Simple Steps to Clean Up Your PC
We all know how your personal computer gets slower and slower with time after you first purchase it. It is not so noticeable on newer operational systems, but it still remains somewhat of a problem to this day. Some people are mistaken that it is a hardware issue and while it may partially be true most likely your PC is just full of unnecessary stuff and there is no reason to invest into a new hardware. Basically, what happens is over time you collect data which is used only once and then left to dust in your system. The good news is there are simple ways and programs out there to help you clean up PC and get it running faster again.
- Uninstall unused software and games. This is the first manual step we could take to improve performance. Many people think that if they are not using a program it doesn't affect the speed of the operational system at all - that is completely wrong. It is important to understand that even if you don't actively use a piece of software it might still launch processes on startup, these processes are running the whole time and consuming memory and processing power. Unused software left to dust on your hardware also fills up your registries database, which in turn reduces booting up speed. Also, did you know that the performance of your computer is affected if more than 85% of hard drive is full?
- Delete all the temporary data. When you browse the internet and use some of the programs your computer will save all the temporary data it needs on its hardware. We are talking about all the images you check online, buffered videos, PDFs you have read only once and won't need anymore, and even installation files for your other programs. Everything is stored, taking space and slowing you down. Regularly making use of a disk clean up tool found by right clicking on your computer or hard drive will delete all that temporary data and give you some fresh air to breathe.
- Disk Defragmentation. Now that might sound scary and extremely complicated to some but in reality it is easily executed by anyone who could open a defragmentation tool. It will only take a few clicks to reconfigure cells in your hard drive and let your computer find faster ways to access data again. Extremely simple and it is also proven to be an effective solution.
- 3rd party tools. We have already mentioned disk clean up and defragmentation tools which are really effective and included in Windows package, but you will also find some paid or even free tools online, they are usually advertised as malware and registry cleaners. It is important to keep your registry database clean, but make sure to google about the software you are about to download before doing so as there is a huge probability that those cleaners are actually malicious. Most of these utilities are scams in reality and are used to lure money from you and show advertisements or change the homepage of your browsers. Be cautious and download only legit software like CCleaner and from legit developers like Lavasoft.
